The Speaker of the Cameroon Lower House of Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, has has reminded Members of Parliament (MPs) to preserve unity and peace in Cameroon on and after the upcoming 2025 Presidential Elections.

He made these remarks on July 9 in Yaoundé, while closing deliberations for the June ordinary session of Parliament.
Hon. Cavaye noted that this session marks the final gathering before the Presidential Election scheduled for October 2025, highlighting the significance of peace and unity as foundational ideals for the nation.
“As we prepare to return to our respective constituencies, I want to remind you that we are embarking on a sacred assignment: mobilizing our fellow citizens to enthusiastically participate in the upcoming elections,” he stated.
“This assignment also involves fostering a calm and peaceful atmosphere throughout the electoral process. Ultimately, our duty is to preserve peace and unity—two ideals that Cameroon will always need.”
Beyond electoral matters, Hon. Cavaye stressed that peace and unity are essential for the continued development of Cameroon.
During the Second Ordinary Session of the National Assembly for the 2025 Legislative Year, three bills were scrutinized and adopted, alongside a budget policy debate for the 2026 Financial Year.
Additionally, extra-parliamentary activities were conducted under the leadership of other Members of the National Assembly.
In a joint session with the Senate, the National Assembly also administered the Oath of Office to Madam Ouli Ndongo Monique, recently appointed as a Member of the Constitutional Council by President Paul Biya on April 8, 2025.
