The crash site, shrouded in dense fog within the Dizmar forest’s mountain valleys, revealed no survivors among the wreckage.

Alongside President Raisi, the casualties are presumed to include Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, presidential guard chief Mehdi Mousavi, East Azerbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati, Supreme Leader’s representative in East Azerbaijan Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, and the helicopter’s flight crew.

At 63, President Raisi was a prominent conservative figure and former judiciary head, noted for his stringent measures against opposition. His administration was marked by the detention and severe punishment of numerous dissidents.
