The non-governmental organization, Young Volunteers for Environment (YVE Cameroon), has announced the holding of a two-day workshop to train media practitioners, civil society leaders, and young people on their engagement in green governance and climate action in Cameroon.
The event will take place from July 29 to 30, 2026, in Yaoundé. The workshop is being organized in the context of worsening climate change in Cameroon, which is affecting agricultural production and contributing to severe flooding, landslides, and drought.
Funded by the United Nations Fund for Democracy, the activity is carried out under the project advancing gender equality through youth engagement in green governance and climate action in Cameroon.
About 40 participants are expected to take part in the training, which will help set the pace for the upcoming COP31 summit, scheduled to be held in Antalya, Turkey, from November 9 to 20, 2026.
Participants will also be equipped on climate change mechanisms and governance. In attendance will be the Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, representatives from the United Nations Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, officials from the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development, and other environmental stakeholders.
