The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has made a significant impact on humanitarian efforts in Cameroon by donating two state-of-the-art medicalized ambulances to the Cameroon Red Cross. The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday March 25.
Khalid Musri Almunye, the Acting chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Cameroon, presented the keys to the ambulances to Cecille Akame Mfoumou, President of the Cameroon Red Cross, in a ceremony attended by a delegation from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
Speaking, Musri Almunye praised the robust and enduring ties between Cameroon and Saudi Arabia. “This donation is part of a broader initiative to enhance the capabilities of the Cameroon Red Cross, which is vital in saving lives and providing medical care during crises,” he stated.
He stressed that the ambulances symbolize friendship and partnership between the two nations, highlighting their potential to significantly improve response times in medical emergencies.
Hamod Ibrahim Al Rubaish, Head of Delegation from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority noted that these modern ambulances would empower the Cameroon Red Cross to respond more effectively to urgent situations. “This donation reflects our commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and ensuring timely medical care,” he said.
Expressing her gratitude, Akame Mfoumou acknowledged the generosity of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. She underscored the importance of such contributions in enhancing the operational capabilities of the Cameroon Red Cross, particularly in remote areas where access to health services is often limited.
“These vehicles will greatly enhance our ability to manage emergency cases and medical emergencies effectively,” she remarked.
Akame Mfoumou also recognized the vital roles of other humanitarian partners, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the French Red Cross.
“Thanks to your unwavering support, we can continue to enhance our impact and address the pressing humanitarian challenges faced in Cameroon,” she added, reinforcing the collaborative efforts necessary to support vulnerable communities.
The ambulances were delivered alongside additional equipment, further strengthening the Cameroon Red Cross’s capacity to respond to emergencies and save lives in critical situations.
