Graduates of Harvard School Complex Etoug-Ebe, Yaounde have been urged to cultivate humility and a growth mindset as they embarked on the next chapter of their academic journeys.

The message was echoed throughout the graduation ceremony held on June 15th, which marked the graduation of the 15th batch of High School and 17th batch of Form Five students. This graduating class, nicknamed the “Batch of Hope,” was celebrated for their achievements.
Uniqueness and Character
Collette Takang, the proprietor of the institution, emphasized the importance of individuality during her speech. She advised the graduates, particularly the high school students, to embrace their unique qualities and resist imitation.
“We should not try to do what we cannot do,” she said. Takang further stressed the importance of character, stating, “You must uphold your attitude because if you succeed in your exams and don’t have good character, you can’t benefit society.”

Resilience and School Pride
Cornelius Afigoah Atabong, the School Principal, instilled in the students the value of perseverance. He highlighted that success requires hard work and dedication, urging them to “learn to climb the stairs.”
Atabong emphasized the school’s pride in its Anglo-Saxon values and challenged the graduates to be “proud ambassadors” of the institution. He motivated them with the words, “Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough. Be convinced that you will always be among the best.”
Atabong addressed the Upper Sixth students specifically, acknowledging the crucial stage they were entering. He added, “Harvard has imbibed in you what it takes to conquer.” He declared them “warriors of Harvard” and sent them off with a challenge to “go and make Harvard proud.”

Confidence and Parental Support
To the Form Five graduates, Atabong highlighted the importance of maintaining confidence. He encouraged them with the message, “Always tell yourself that you can do it.”
He also addressed the parents, assuring them that their children are always “in the right hands.” Atabong maintained that the school’s commitment is to working collaboratively with parents to ensure their children’s academic and moral development.
Celebrating Growth and Community

The Senior Prefect on her part reflected on the challenges faced by the graduating class, which she said had molded them into who they are today. She acknowledged the unique stories of each graduate, stating, “We have been a community of students who believed in each other. We celebrate our growth.”
