Students from the Experiential Higher Institute of Science and Technology (EXHIST) have been encouraged to uphold the institution’s core values as they participate in the second edition of its Sports and Cultural Activities.

This call to action was made by the school’s founder, Nelson Ngang, during the launch ceremony held on January 31 at the National Higher School of Posts and Telecommunications in Yaoundé.
Emphasizing the significance of these values, Ngang stated, “Whether in school or beyond, we must embody discipline, creativity, fair play, and innovation. Our values should guide us wherever we go.” He reflected on the positive impact of the inaugural edition held last year, highlighting its role in uncovering talents and fostering community spirit among students.

“We have discovered many hidden talents since the first edition,” Ngang remarked. “There are individuals we never thought would excel in sports, but it’s remarkable to see them shine. We also plan to compete with our sister schools and potentially participate in university games.”
Ngang further elaborated that the sports and cultural event aligns perfectly with the school’s motto of providing quality education for holistic training. “We recognize that for education to be truly effective, it must engage all aspects of a student’s development. This cultural initiative has been ongoing for five years, featuring diverse groups that celebrate Cameroon’s rich heritage,” he explained.

Mirriam Tantoh, a Level 400 student in the Midwifery department, shared her personal experience: “The sports and cultural event has significantly impacted my studies, helping me break out of my shell. I couldn’t play handball before, but now I excel at it.” She noted that many students who were initially shy have become more sociable, thanks to these sporting events, fostering a sense of community and social cohesion among peers.

The current edition of the competition features over six sports disciplines, including football, handball, volleyball, table tennis, and athletics. The opening ceremony showcased thrilling matches in handball, volleyball, and football. Cultural displays also captivated attendees, celebrating the diverse traditions of Cameroon.

As the events unfold, the EXHIST community looks forward to an enriching experience that not only showcases sporting prowess but also reinforces the values that define their educational journey.
Founded in 2019, EXHIST has two campuses located in Yaoundé and Bamenda. Initially known as EXIPS, focusing on paramedic training, the institution expanded in 2020 to offer HND programs in Health Sciences.

In 2022, it further diversified its curriculum to include degrees in Banking, Finance, Computer Engineering, and Hospitality Management, affirming its commitment to comprehensive education.
