Speaking shortly after receiving her award, Banda expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing that this recognition would fuel her ongoing commitment to peace advocacy.

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to the Fobang Institutes for Innovations in Science and Technology. This award strengthens my faith in God, who empowers us to serve,” she stated.

Reflecting on her legacy, Banda acknowledged the influence of her father, Ephraim Banda Ghogomu, known as “The Arch Journalist.” She revealed that she was named after Amy Carter to honor the profound impact of her father’s work. “This recognition is a call for me to reignite Target Peace activities, reinforcing my dedication to service,” she added.

During the award ceremony, Prof. Mbacham Fon, President and promoter of the Fobang Institutes, praised Banda’s remarkable achievements. “This accolade recognizes your exceptional contributions throughout your illustrious career. Your tireless efforts and groundbreaking work have left an indelible mark on society, inspiring countless individuals and shaping our landscape,” he remarked.

This latest honor marks the third award Banda has received in 2024, following the Gender Equality – Empowerment Award and the WILPF Award of Recognition. Her accolades also include the Victoria International Media Merit Award for Peace Journalist of the Year in 2022.

A prominent figure in the media industry, Amy Banda is known for her eloquent communication skills and impactful storytelling. She began her career in 2008 with LTM and later joined STV in 2012, where she gained acclaim for hosting “Voice of the Voiceless” and reviving “The Good Morning Cameroon,” the country’s first morning TV show originally launched by the late Lulu Favour Efange.

Since joining CRTV in May 2017, Banda has been instrumental in launching several popular programs, including “The Holiday” with Ebeny Manfred and “The Artist.” She has also contributed to “Day Break on CRTV,” “Family Matters,” and “Calling the Women.”

As the founder of Target Peace, a movement dedicated to promoting peace and supporting programs for internally displaced persons in the West Region, Banda’s initiatives empower widows and provide essential resources for IDPs. Her efforts include distributing back-to-school kits and organizing the Bambalang peace tournament, under the patronage of His Majesty Kevin Shomitang II, King of Mbaw Yakum (Bambalang).

Amy Banda’s unwavering dedication to peace and her impactful contributions to journalism continue to inspire many, solidifying her position as a leading voice in the pursuit of peace.
