Gilfort Fur Fondzenyuy, better known in the Cameroon Film Industry as Giddis, is a name that might not be familiar to all, but his impact is undeniable. The passionate filmmaker from Kumbo, Northwest Region, is steadily transforming his childhood dream into a thriving reality.

Giddis believes that originality is key to the growth of Cameroon’s film industry. “We need to break free from the cycle of copying and pasting,” he asserts. “With our rich cultural tapestry, Cameroon has the potential to become a cinematic powerhouse in Africa, setting a benchmark for others to follow.”
“Directing has always been my passion,” shares Giddis. “The joy of bringing a story to life is unparalleled. I’m constantly learning, and I believe with God’s grace, I’ll achieve great things.”
He stressed the need for creativity and innovation: “We possess immense talent within our country. By harnessing this potential and fostering a unique cinematic voice, we can truly shine on the world stage.”
Giddis acknowledges the valuable lessons learned from fellow filmmakers both within and outside Cameroon. “Directors play a pivotal role in the success of any film,” he explains. “Developing a strong creative vision and effectively communicating ideas are crucial for bringing a story to life.”

Beyond the simple “action” and “cut,” Giddis focuses on visualizing the story’s essence. “Challenges are inevitable, but with continuous learning, the best is yet to come.”
Giddis has directed several notable films, including “Regrets” and “When She Is In Love.” He also serves as a producer and CEO of Giddis Media Production (GMP), a company dedicated to turning cinematic dreams into reality.
With government support and increased investment, Giddis envisions a flourishing Cameroon film industry. “A shift in mindset is crucial,” he believes. “We must recognize the value and potential of our own unique stories.”
Apart from being a film director and maker, Gilfort Fur Fondzenyuy is the founder of GYTEC-Africa and also works as a teacher, photographer, videographer, and mentor.
